You know, I have moments when I feel like, “man, why do I keep on writing songs and making records, anyway? Maybe I’ll just sit here and cross my arms and go ‘hmmmph’” and then I get a wonderfully encouraging message from a good friend like you. Thanks, Scott.
If you only go to one music event this year, you really ought to get out more often. In any case, I hope you can make it to my show on Saturday!

Walk, ride a rhino, jetski, parasail, take the F, do what it takes to get yourself to 2A on Sunday night for the January 2013 edition of Li’l Mo’s Field of Stars! I’m so glad to be joining Anne Husick, Rebecca Turner and Monica Passin as we sit around, singin’ and playin’. I hope you can make it. ☺
Holy cannoli! I’m right in the middle of the Deli’s weekly Songwriter Chart. Pretty sweet.

It was a blast at Freddy’s in Brooklyn on Saturday night. Dave Keener’s “Songwriter Deathmatch” series welcomed repeat performers Dave Foster and myself; Jeneen Terrana and Bruce Henderson made their first visits. There may have been some photos and videos taken - if so, I’ll post ‘em as I see ‘em!
Listening to music, playing music with friends, laughing.
I’m inviting YOU to the first Songwriter Deathmatch of 2013. Come on down to Freddy’s in Park Slope (or up to Freddy’s, or over to Freddy’s, depending on where you happen to be in relation to 627 5th Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets in Park Slope, Brooklyn.)
Songwriter Deathmatch is a showcase started last year by Dave Keener, a local singer/songwriter and impresario. Dave has produced a bunch of shows, each featuring a different lineup of talent. Every performer gives you the best 15 minutes of his or her stuff, and then it’s on to the next act. You get the best of what each person has to offer. Dave told me one time why he named the show Songwriter Deathmatch; if you come and ask him he might tell you the story, too.
The show starts at 8:00 and features Bruce Henderson, Jeneen Terrana, Dave Foster, Dave Keener and me.

Hope to see you there.
I was excited to see a couple of questions posted on the website today and then I wondered, “how long has it been since these questions have been here?” I thought I had set up my account to have them sent to my email. My bad! I started nosing around the preferences section and realized that I set up the tumblr account with a different email account than I usually use (isn’t this fascinating?!?!). Anyway, I made the change and from now on, as soon as you send a question to me via my website, it will be emailed to me, and then I will answer it here on the website…so go ahead! Ask me a question using the handy “ASK ME ANYTHING” menu selection. I dare ya.
Wow! ”Meat” is an oldie. That one is a recording I made up when I was goofing around with a Tascam 4 track and a Casio synth. I’ll see if I can dig it up and put it on the website. Thanks for asking. When did you hear it?
