Songwriter Deathmatch will celebrate its second year Saturday, April 12th at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn. The anniversary show will feature returning songwriters Rob Paravonian, Robin Aigner, Ray Brown, Dave Foster, Karen Dahlstrom, Mark Humble, and your old pal, Dave Keener.

Over the two…

The Score

birth was disaster,
walking disaster,
the Serious Mission a mystery,
finding a master key,
ending disaster for all.

to unlock a riddle, without any question.
exhaustion exhilarate, pushing me more
to feel my heart breathe in a sealed garage
my engine believed I was saving the world,
part of me knew the score.

Jellybean Tree and a plea to Sam Elliott

I finally got some time where I could just leave your disc (1 Center Street) in my player for an indefinite period and just listen listen listen. I'm still listening. I sincerely love your music. I'm no aficionado but I've been listening to great music my whole life, and your songs are great. They would be in my library whether I knew you or not - though I might not have heard them if I didn't know you. That's a shame for everyone else. Thanks so much 4 this beautiful music! ~ScottJones — Asked by Anonymous

You know, I have moments when I feel like, “man, why do I keep on writing songs and making records, anyway? Maybe I’ll just sit here and cross my arms and go ‘hmmmph’” and then I get a wonderfully encouraging message from a good friend like you.  Thanks, Scott.

If you only go to one music event this year, you really ought to get out more often. In any case, I hope you can make it to my show on Saturday!

Walk, ride a rhino, jetski, parasail, take the F, do what it takes to get yourself to 2A on Sunday night for the January 2013 edition of Li’l Mo’s Field of Stars!  I’m so glad to be joining Anne Husick, Rebecca Turner and Monica Passin as we sit around, singin’ and playin’.  I hope you can make it. ☺

2013 Kicked Off With a Lively Deathmatch

It was a blast at Freddy’s in Brooklyn on Saturday night.  Dave Keener’s “Songwriter Deathmatch” series welcomed repeat performers Dave Foster and myself; Jeneen Terrana and Bruce Henderson made their first visits.  There may have been some photos and videos taken - if so, I’ll post ‘em as I see ‘em!
